Privacy Policy

The short version: TurnThread processes article content locally in your browser to generate thread drafts. We don't store what you read, we don't track you across the web, and we don't sell your data. The only external call made is to our AI provider to generate your thread — and only when you click “Generate thread”.

What TurnThread collects

TurnThread collects the minimum necessary to function:

The text content of the page you are on, extracted locally in your browser, used only to generate a thread on your request
Your selected preferences (length, style) stored locally on your device via chrome.storage.local
A daily usage count to enforce the free tier limit, stored locally on your device and never transmitted to our servers
Your Pro token if you have upgraded, stored locally on your device only

What TurnThread does not collect

Your browsing history or a record of which articles you have read
Any personal information such as your name, email address, or identity (beyond what our payment processor collects at checkout)
Cookies or cross-site tracking data
The threads you generate or copy
Analytics or usage telemetry of any kind

How your data is used

When you click “Generate thread”, the article text from the current page is sent to our API via an encrypted HTTPS request, solely to generate a thread. This request contains only the article content and your selected options. No personal information is included.

For Pro users, your voice samples (if provided) are stored locally on your device and sent only when generating a thread with voice matching enabled. They are never stored on our servers.

AI generation is handled by a third-party AI provider. Article content is sent to their API only when you explicitly request a thread, and TurnThread does not retain any record of requests or responses after your session ends.

Data storage

All data that TurnThread stores — your usage count, preferences, voice samples, and Pro token — is stored exclusively on your local device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to TurnThread or any third party.

You can clear this data at any time by removing the extension from Chrome.

Payments

Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor. When you upgrade to Pro, they collect your email address and payment details. TurnThread receives only a confirmation that payment was successful and your email address in order to send your activation token. We do not store your payment details.

Third-party services

TurnThread uses a small number of third-party services to function: an AI model provider to generate threads, a payment processor to handle Pro subscriptions, and an email delivery service to send your activation token. The specific providers we use may change over time. In all cases, only the minimum data necessary is shared with each provider, and none of them receive personal information beyond what is required to complete the transaction or deliver the service.

Children's privacy

TurnThread is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of TurnThread after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
